Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and former party chief Rahul Gandhi will visit Jammu and Srinagar on August 21 and 22 to prepare for the upcoming assembly elections. Their visit follows a significant meeting with general secretaries, in-charges, and screening committee members from four poll-bound states.
Gulam Ahmed Mir, Congress National General Secretary, confirmed that during their two-day visit, Kharge and Gandhi will engage in extensive meetings with leaders and workers to energize and strengthen the party cadre. They will start in Jammu and then move to Srinagar for further discussions.
Newly appointed J&K Congress chief Tariq Hameed Karra added that the party is open to forming a 'respectable alliance' with like-minded parties for the assembly polls. The three-phase elections for the 90-member Jammu and Kashmir assembly are scheduled for September and October, with results to be announced on October 4.
