Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu Zone, Anand Jain, led a comprehensive review of security and law and order arrangements in Jammu district in preparation for the upcoming Assembly elections. The meeting, held at the Conference Hall of the District Police Lines of Jammu on Saturday, was confirmed by an official statement.

High-ranking officials, including Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Shiv Kumar Sharma and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Joginder Singh, along with Sub Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) and Station House Officers (SHOs) of Jammu, attended the meeting. ADGP Jain underscored the critical importance of maintaining peace and security during the electoral process.

During the discussions, directives were issued for vigilance and proactive measures to ensure free, fair, and peaceful elections. ADGP Jain emphasized the need for robust coordination among security agencies to tackle any potential challenges. Plans for deploying additional forces in sensitive areas and enhancing intelligence gathering were also reviewed.

ADGP Jain appraised the overall law and order situation and assessed the readiness of police resources, instructing officers to maintain high visibility and intensify patrols and security checks in their jurisdictions. The importance of community engagement and building public trust was highlighted to ensure cooperative efforts in maintaining order during the elections.

The focus of the meeting was on solidifying security measures for the forthcoming elections. Inputs from officers were solicited to ensure the elections proceed safely. SSP Joginder Singh presented current crime statistics and updates on election preparedness, with key trends in criminal activities discussed. The Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir are scheduled to occur in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1, with results to be announced on October 4.
