The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) is setting the stage for an intense contest in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, aiming to contest all 70 seats. The first list of candidates is anticipated to be unveiled by mid-January, marking a strategic push to improve on previous election outcomes.
A party official disclosed that the capital has been divided into five distinct zones for the selection process, with coordinators overseeing and finalizing candidate recommendations. These will be submitted to party chief Mayawati, who will make the final decisions based on these evaluations.
Small meetings at the grassroots level are identifying key issues and agendas, sought to inform the candidate selection. Despite previous setbacks, with the party failing to secure any seats in 2020 and recording varied vote shares over the years, the BSP is gearing for a robust campaign launch by January 5.
