India Aims to Eradicate Left Wing Extremism by 2026, Says Home Minister Amit Shah
Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced a ruthless strategy to eliminate Left Wing Extremism (LWE) by March 2026. The statement was made after a review meeting in Chhattisgarh, urging Naxals to surrender. Shah highlighted a significant drop in Naxal incidents and emphasized coordinated efforts in security and development.

India will be free from Left Wing Extremism (LWE) by March 2026, assured Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday, asserting that a strong and ruthless strategy is necessary for the final assault.
During a press conference with Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and senior central and police officials, Shah emphasized the need for Naxal surrender and introduced a new look surrender policy to be announced by the Chhattisgarh government in 1-2 months.
Highlighting a 53 per cent decrease in Naxal incidents between 2014-2024 compared to 2004-2014, Shah confirmed the government's comprehensive approach to filling security vacuums and executing development projects in LWE-affected regions. Central agencies such as NIA and ED have also been active in dismantling Maoist financing networks.
