India will be free from Left Wing Extremism (LWE) by March 2026, assured Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday, asserting that a strong and ruthless strategy is necessary for the final assault.

During a press conference with Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and senior central and police officials, Shah emphasized the need for Naxal surrender and introduced a new look surrender policy to be announced by the Chhattisgarh government in 1-2 months.

Highlighting a 53 per cent decrease in Naxal incidents between 2014-2024 compared to 2004-2014, Shah confirmed the government's comprehensive approach to filling security vacuums and executing development projects in LWE-affected regions. Central agencies such as NIA and ED have also been active in dismantling Maoist financing networks.
