Record Low Flight Cancellations Despite Summer Surge

Despite significant disruptions in July due to Crowdstrike, U.S. airlines have canceled only 1.6% of all flights this year amid record summer travel. This cancellation rate is slightly above last year's 1.5% but lower than any year since 2017, according to the Transportation Department.

Despite significant disruptions in July sparked by the cybersecurity firm Crowdstrike, U.S. airlines have kept their cancellation rate at 1.6% for the year, according to the Transportation Department.

The slight increase from last year's 1.5% cancellation rate is still a notable achievement given that it remains lower than any other year since 2017 when it was 1.4%.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) highlighted that this summer's travel has set a new record and forecasts an unprecedented number of passengers for the Labor Day travel period, capping off the summer season.
