In Uttar Pradesh's Pakrhi area, three youngsters allegedly tried to assault a minor girl on her way home from school, police reported on Friday.
The accused injured the girl with a sharp weapon when she resisted and then fled the scene, police added.
A case has been filed against three unidentified suspects for the alleged assault.
The victim's father stated that his 14-year-old daughter was dragged into the bushes near Jagdara village by the accused on Thursday afternoon.
In his Thursday evening complaint, he claimed that the suspects tied his daughter's hands and mouth and attempted to establish physical relations with her. When she resisted, they attacked her.
The police have registered a case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act.
Superintendent of Police (Ballia) Vikrant Veer said on Friday that the assaulted girl was found near Jagadara Tola and admitted to a local hospital before being referred to the district hospital. Her condition is now stable.
Three police teams have been mobilized under the Sikandarpur circle officer to apprehend the suspects soon, he added.
