On Friday, SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch and her husband, Dhaval Buch, categorically denied recent allegations against them as 'false, incorrect, malicious, and motivated.' In a joint statement, they explained that the accusations stemmed from their Income Tax Returns, asserting no merit in these claims.

'These matters have been fully disclosed in our income tax returns, and taxes have been duly paid,' the statement read. The couple claimed that their tax returns were accessed illegally and fraudulently by accusers. They called this a breach of their right to privacy and a violation of the Income Tax Act.

'The facts in our returns have been twisted to create a false narrative. Allegations seem to be made in instalments, only to keep the issue alive,' they said. The Buchs emphasized their professional integrity and expressed confidence in discrediting future allegations, reserving the right for legal action.
