NHL hockey player Johnny Gaudreau of the Columbus Blue Jackets and his brother Matthew died in a bike accident, according to an announcement on Friday by the National Hockey League (NHL).

League Commissioner Gary Bettman expressed the League's profound sorrow, stating, "The National Hockey League family is shocked and saddened by the tragic passing of Columbus Blue Jackets forward Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew."

Gaudreau was remembered for his early skating lessons in New Jersey, taught by his father, and his illustrious 11 NHL seasons, which included seven NHL All-Star Game appearances. Local media reported that Johnny, 31, and Matthew, 29, were killed near their hometown in Salem County, New Jersey, late Thursday.
