Omar Abdullah Hints at Likely Participation in J&K Assembly Elections
Omar Abdullah, NC vice president, has hinted at his likely participation in the J&K assembly elections. Abdullah stated his party can't expect voter support if he himself does not participate. The NC and Congress recently announced a seat-sharing arrangement for the elections, but Abdullah asked for a day or two before confirming his candidacy.

Omar Abdullah, the vice president of the National Conference (NC), has indicated that he might participate in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, despite earlier vows to abstain until statehood was restored.
In a media interaction following the seat-sharing announcement between NC and Congress, Abdullah acknowledged that asking for voter and colleague support would be inconsistent if he didn't participate. He requested a day or two before confirming his decision.
The announcement came after considerable speculation and requests from party leaders for Abdullah to reconsider his stance, particularly urging him to contest from his stronghold in Ganderbal. The NC-Congress alliance also faced challenges, with seat negotiations involving CPI(M) and no significant issues regarding NC's manifesto.
