Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy paid floral tribute to the late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in Somajiguda, Hyderabad, on Tuesday to mark his birth anniversary. The Chief Minister also announced plans to install a statue of Rajiv Gandhi in front of the state Secretariat.

During his address, Reddy criticized Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader KT Rama Rao, stating that some individuals intended to replace Rajiv Gandhi's statue with one of KTR's father. Reddy emphasized the sacrifices made by Rajiv Gandhi's family for the country and the state of Telangana.

CM Reddy also asserted that it was fair to place Rajiv Gandhi's statue beside the Martyrs Memorial at the Secretariat. Additionally, he announced that the statue of Telangana Talli (Mother) would be installed on December 9. This follows criticism from BRS leader K Kavitha, who had urged the state government to reconsider erecting Rajiv Gandhi's statue on land originally designated for Telangana Talli's statue.
