Congress MLA Devendra Yadav has been apprehended for his alleged involvement in the June 10 violence in Chhattisgarh's Balodabazar city, confirmed police officials. The unrest erupted during a protest organized by the Satnami community.
Yadav, who claimed that the BJP government is using the incident to target Congress workers, was detained at his residence in Durg district before being brought to Balodabazar, where he was formally arrested. Superintendent of Police Vijay Agrawal disclosed that Yadav faces charges under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
Former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel slammed Yadav's arrest as politically motivated, questioning why no BJP members were investigated despite allegations against them.
