Authorities reported that at least 40 other passengers were on the bus during the attack, although no further danger is posed. According to the German newspaper Bild, the attacker is believed to be a German national possibly struggling with mental health issues and under the influence of drugs. Police clarified there is no suspicion of terrorism.
This attack follows a recent stabbing spree in Solingen, prompted by a Syrian man who admitted to killing three people and injuring several others. The incident has led to renewed calls for stricter immigration laws. The suspect, a 26-year-old alleged ISIS member, stated he intended to kill as many people as possible during the Solingen city festival, as reported by CNN.
