Delhi Police Nab Hospital Equipment Thief; 17 Arrested in Nationwide Cybercrime Bust

The Delhi Police arrested Yogesh Kumar for stealing medical equipment from hospitals. Police also arrested 17 individuals linked to various cybercrimes in a series of raids across multiple states.

The Delhi Police's Saket police station has apprehended a man accused of stealing high-value medical equipment from hospitals while posing as a medical equipment representative. Identified as Yogesh Kumar, the suspect was caught on August 29 and has admitted to stealing items worth about four to five lakhs, according to law enforcement officials.

Authorities revealed that Yogesh had been selling the stolen equipment online at discounted rates. The police recovered an indirect ophthalmoscope and a scan pachymeter from his possession. A case was initiated on August 19 after Max Hospital, Saket, lodged a complaint about the theft of an indirect ophthalmoscope from their ophthalmology department. Using CCTV footage and other technical sources, the police identified and captured the suspect.

Yogesh, 55, a resident of Shahibabad in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, was employed by a company that supplies medical equipment to hospitals. He reportedly stole equipment from Max Hospital and Yashoda Hospital in Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh.

In a separate crackdown, Delhi Police have arrested 17 individuals suspected of various cybercrimes during a series of raids conducted across multiple states. "The Cyber South West district apprehended 17 suspects involved in various cybercrimes. Multiple teams conducted raids across different states as part of a week-long Special Cyber Ops," said Rohit Meena, DCP South West. The raids took place in locations including Mewat, Ajmer, and Jodhpur in Rajasthan, as well as Deoghar and Dumka in Jharkhand, among others.
