Senior Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Kunal Ghosh has accused the BJP and the Left of engaging in dirty politics over the alleged rape and murder of a woman doctor at a state-run hospital in Kolkata. Ghosh has called on his party's top leadership to take a proactive stance against such political tactics.
In a social media post, Ghosh expressed that the TMC is also protesting the alleged crime and demands that the perpetrators be severely punished. He accused the BJP and the Left of using the incident to unfairly target the TMC and the state administration. A postgraduate trainee doctor was reportedly raped and murdered on August 9 at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, leading to the arrest of a civic volunteer.
Ghosh emphasized that TMC leader Mamata Banerjee is spearheading the party's response and urged second-in-command Abhishek Banerjee to become more active in the fight. Ghosh criticized the appointment of Dr. Sandip Ghosh to another state-run health facility, saying it sent the wrong message. Sandip Ghosh has been questioned by the CBI in connection with the crime following his resignation from RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
