The state of Jharkhand is poised for electoral polls later this year, sparking significant political activity and speculation over the future of former Chief Minister Champai Soren. Soren assumed office after Hemant Soren's arrest over an alleged land scam, further stirring the political landscape.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the BJP's election co-incharge, has refrained from commenting definitively on Soren's political future. 'No one is in touch with us yet. I am also hearing these reports from the channels. Champai Soren is a very senior leader, I do not want to make any informal comment about him,' Sarma stated.

Adding fuel to the fire, Sarma noted in a social media post that any progress made under the JMM-Congress alliance was achieved during Soren's six-month tenure. The BJP convened a strategy meeting with key leaders, including Union Minister Shivraj Chauhan and state BJP President Babulal Marandi, to outline their election plans.

Former Jharkhand BJP President Deepak Prakash indicated that Soren's potential inclusion in the BJP hinges on central leadership. Prakash acknowledged Soren's positive tenure but lamented his controversial removal, highlighting the discontent among Jharkhand's populace regarding his ousting.

Champai Soren, who served as Jharkhand's 12th Chief Minister from February 2 to July 3 this year, was succeeded by Hemant Soren. In the 2019 elections, the JMM, in alliance with Congress and RJD, secured a majority with 47 seats in the 81-member legislative house.
