Two more BJP leaders, including a district president, resigned from the party on Saturday, citing dissatisfaction with candidate selection for the Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir. Hundreds of party workers held a rally in the Khour block of the Chhamb Assembly constituency against fielding former MLA Rajeev Sharma.
The BJP is grappling with discontent over its ticket distribution in the Union Territory, with leaders and workers protesting as the party released its candidate list on August 26. In response, senior BJP figures, including Union ministers, have been reaching out to placate dissatisfied members. Two rebel leaders have already filed nominations as independent candidates.
Expressing his frustration, Samba district president Kashmir Singh resigned, blaming the party for giving a ticket to a former National Conference member who opposed BJP's ideology. Singh indicated he might run as an independent if the party doesn't reconsider its decision. Similarly, youth leader Kanav Sharma resigned in protest against the selection of a 'corrupt' candidate.
