Tensions Rise as Famine Fears in Northern Gaza Amplify
Israel dismisses warnings from the Famine Review Committee regarding an impending famine in northern Gaza amidst ongoing conflict with Hamas. Israel claims increased aid efforts while facing pressure from the U.S. to enhance the humanitarian situation or risk restrictions on military cooperation.
Israel has dismissed warnings from a group of global food security experts about a looming famine in parts of northern Gaza, where it remains engaged in a conflict with Hamas. The military attributed these concerns to 'partial, biased data and superficial sources with vested interests,' according to a recent statement.
The Famine Review Committee (FRC) issued a rare alert on Friday, signaling the high probability of an imminent famine in north Gaza. It appealed for immediate action from both sides to avert a worsening humanitarian crisis.
In response to critiques of a potential 'starvation tactic,' Israel reported bolstered aid deliveries, noting 39,000 trucks had delivered over 840,000 tons of food. The U.S., Israel's primary ally, has issued a deadline for improving conditions to avoid potential military cooperation restrictions.
