Slovakia Weighs Retaliation in Gas Dispute with Ukraine
Slovakia's ruling coalition is contemplating retaliatory actions against Ukraine after Ukraine halted Russian gas deliveries to Slovakia. Prime Minister Robert Fico mentioned potential measures include reducing electricity supply to Ukraine, decreasing aid for Ukrainian refugees, and seeking compensation for gas transit losses.
Slovakia's ruling coalition is meeting to discuss possible retaliatory actions after the cessation of Russian gas delivery to Slovakia by Ukraine, according to Prime Minister Robert Fico.
In a video posted on Facebook, Fico stated that his Smer party is considering measures such as cutting electricity exports to Ukraine and reducing aid to Ukrainian refugees.
Fico also mentioned demands for renewal of gas transit or compensation for the losses Slovakia has incurred due to the halt in Russian gas flow.
