The Karnataka High Court has upheld the governor's approval for an investigation against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in a controversial site allotment case. The high court dismissed Siddaramaiah's petition, stating that the order for investigation does not lack application of mind. Despite this setback, Siddaramaiah rejected demands for his resignation.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had originally challenged the investigation's sanction, which revolves around alleged irregularities in allotting 14 sites to his wife by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA). Justice M Nagaprasanna ruled that there is enough merit in the allegations to warrant a probe.
Reacting strongly, Congress leaders accused the federal government of using the governor's office for 'vendetta politics.' The party vowed to fight both legally and politically. Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar and other Congress leaders voiced their support for Siddaramaiah, insisting he had done no wrong.
