Dubai [UAE], September 24 (ANI/WAM): In a significant humanitarian effort, Dubai Humanitarian has airlifted another consignment of urgent relief supplies for Gaza, as directed by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai. The relief package, transported via El Arish, Egypt, aims to support the affected and displaced population.

A Boeing 747 aircraft from Dubai Royal Air Wing carried 71.6 metric tonnes of essential medical supplies, including cholera treatment kits, Interagency Emergency Health Kits (IEHK), and Emergency Relief Health (ERH) kits, provided by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the World Food Programme-United Nations Humanitarian Response Depot (WFP-UNHRD). This mission reflects Dubai's prompt response to the ongoing crisis in Gaza.

Mohammed Al Shaibani, Chairman of Dubai Humanitarian, stressed the organization's commitment to alleviating the suffering in Gaza. 'Our priority is to provide immediate aid to those affected by the devastating conflict,' he stated. This consignment marks the 19th shipment Dubai Humanitarian has facilitated since October 2023, valued at AED3.8 million ($1,037,560), expected to benefit over 300,000 Gazans.

Dr. Hanan Balkhy, Regional Director for WHO's Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office, highlighted WHO's extensive support since the conflict began. 'WHO has delivered over $9.2 million in essential medicines and health supplies for Gaza, representing nearly 40 percent of all shipments from our logistics hub in Dubai,' she said. The latest flight carried 62.3 metric tonnes of life-saving medicines, part of 13 charter flights coordinated by Dubai Humanitarian for WHO, facilitating swift delivery of critical health supplies.

Stephen Anderson, WFP Representative to the GCC, underscored the UAE's enduring commitment to humanitarian action. 'This airlift of 71 metric tonnes of relief supplies to Gaza is a testament to UAE's commitment,' he stated. Dubai Humanitarian continues to support global efforts, including transporting medical supplies to the Democratic Republic of Congo to combat the MPOX outbreak.
