Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday mandated a state-level police conference to address pressing issues concerning women's safety.
This directive follows President Droupadi Murmu's raised concerns over the harrowing rape and murder of a doctor at RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata, according to an official statement.
Majhi emphasized his government's zero-tolerance policy against violence targeting women and assured stringent actions against those involved in such heinous acts. The Chief Minister also notified that police officers neglecting cases related to women's safety would face strict repercussions, reiterating that justice for victims is the administration's priority.
Moreover, Majhi instructed Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Satyabrata Sahu and DGP YB Khurania to initiate training programs for police officers specifically focusing on women's safety issues.
