In Kolkata, doctors continued their protest on Tuesday in response to the rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee at RG Kar Medical College. Visuals from Lalbazar show a sit-in protest, with police officials stationed for security.
Even late Monday night, junior doctors maintained their protest, demanding justice and criticizing the Kolkata police for mishandling the case. They waved the Indian flag, calling attention to their cause.
On Monday, BJP MP Abhijit Gangopadhyay visited the protest site to express his support. He clarified that he attended as a concerned citizen and called for the Commissioner of Police to meet the protesters. Meanwhile, the CBI arrested Dr. Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of the college, amidst allegations of corruption and financial irregularities.
