Fulham manager Marco Silva voiced his frustration after his team's failure to secure a win in regular time against Preston North End, who defeated them 16-15 in the League Cup's longest shootout. Tuesday's third-round clash concluded 1-1 in regular time.
Speaking to reporters after the dramatic 34-kick shootout, Silva said, "I'm sure that we did enough during the 95 minutes to win the game. From the first minute, we took control of the game and created enough chances." Fulham logged 16 shots compared to Preston's seven, with Harrison Reed notably hitting the crossbar.
Fulham will attempt to bounce back when they host Newcastle United on Saturday, following two consecutive 1-1 draws in their Premier League fixtures.
