The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, has unveiled an ambitious plan to construct 18 football stadiums across the state's 18 commissariats. Furthermore, 827 football grounds will be developed in every block to enhance football facilities, promoting the sport and enabling more tournaments.
Before the Derby match in Lucknow, All India Football Federation President Kalyan Chaubey praised the Uttar Pradesh government. He highlighted the swift renovation of the KD Singh Babu Stadium, completed in just 19 days, allowing it to host its first Kolkata Derby. Mohun Bagan Super Giant defeated East Bengal FC 1(3)-1(2) in a historic penalty shootout.
Addressing the public, CM Adityanath emphasized the significance of hosting this prestigious match in Lucknow for the first time. He lauded PM Narendra Modi's Khelo India initiative, which has greatly contributed to the promotion of sports in India. Adityanath affirmed Uttar Pradesh's commitment to this vision, aiding the growth of football in the state.
