Punjab FC clinched a dramatic 2-1 victory against Kerala Blasters FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Sunday, marking a successful start to their Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 campaign. Despite a goalless struggle for much of the match, the final ten minutes brought unexpected excitement.

The match was a closely fought contest, with both teams' offensive lines pushing hard. Punjab FC's Leon Augustine earned a crucial spot-kick in the 86th minute, which captain Luka Majcen converted with ease. Majcen's calm accuracy seemed to secure the win.

Kerala Blasters responded fiercely, with Jesus Jimenez equalizing in the 90th minute thanks to a precise assist from defender Pritam Kotal. However, Punjab FC struck back in stoppage time, as Majcen assisted Filip Mrzljak for the winning goal. Despite a late push from Kerala, Punjab FC emerged victorious. Majcen's standout performance included a goal, an assist, and perfect passing. Kerala Blasters will face East Bengal FC next, while Punjab FC takes on Odisha FC on September 22.
