Mohun Bagan emerged victorious on penalties in the Chief Minister's Cup charity derby match against East Bengal FC on Monday at the KD Singh Babu Stadium in Lucknow. Despite a first-half goal from Suhail Ahmad Bhat being cancelled out by Muhammed Ashique K's second-half equalizer, the Green and Maroon Brigade edged a 3-2 win on penalties to claim the first ever Kolkata Derby in the City of Nawabs, according to a press release from the All India Football Federation (AIFF).

The Mariners came out firing and nearly took an early lead, but Suhail Ahmad Bhat's header was disallowed for offside. Their persistent attacks paid off when Bhat volleyed in a goal from a set piece in the 18th minute. Although Mohun Bagan continued to dominate early in the second half, missed opportunities allowed East Bengal to level the score through Muhammed Ashique K's goal in the 71st minute.

The game proceeded to a penalty shootout, where Mohun Bagan converted three of their kicks thanks to Serto Worneilen Kom, Adil Abdulla, and Ravi Bahadur Rana. Despite Aditya Patra's two saves and conversions from Ashique and Chiku Mandi for East Bengal, Mohun Bagan clinched the win as Tanmay Das, Vishnu PV, and Muhammed Musharaf failed to convert.
