Mohun Bagan emerged victorious over East Bengal in a penalty shootout during the Chief Minister's Cup charity derby match, following 1-1 deadlock in regular time at KD Singh Babu Stadium on Monday.
Initially, Suhail Ahmad Bhat put Mohun Bagan ahead in the 18th minute before East Bengal's Muhammed Ashique equalized in the 71st minute, pushing the match into penalties.
In the shootout, Mohun Bagan's Serto Worneilen Kom, Adil Abdulla, and Ravi Bahadur Rana successfully converted their kicks. Despite Aditya Patra's double saves for East Bengal and successful penalties by Ashique and Chiku Mandi, missed attempts from Tanmay Das, Vishnu PV, and Muhammed Musharaf sealed their fate.
