Junior doctors from various medical colleges staged a rally in Kolkata, demanding the resignation of Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal. Despite being halted by police barricades, they continued their protest on BB Ganguly Street.

The demonstrators, accompanied by students and citizens, spent the night at the protest site. They burned an effigy of the commissioner and underscored the police's duty to protect citizens by placing a spine replica and red roses on the barricade.

They criticized the police for inadequate investigation into the alleged rape and murder of a trainee doctor, which has since been transferred to the CBI by the Calcutta High Court.
