The Supreme Court expressed strong displeasure on Thursday over Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's remarks insinuating political interference in granting bail to BRS leader K Kavitha. The Chief Justice-led bench questioned Reddy's statements, suggesting they could undermine public confidence in the judiciary.
Justice B R Gavai, leading a three-judge bench, strongly rebuked the comments, asking whether it was appropriate for a responsible chief minister to provoke doubts about judicial decisions. The court emphasized that its decisions are based on conscience and oath, not political considerations.
The controversy centers around the ongoing trial of the 2015 cash-for-vote case, with renewed allegations against Reddy. The Supreme Court deliberated on appointing a special prosecutor to ensure a fair trial, highlighting the importance of upholding the integrity of the judicial process.
