A senior fire safety officer, Safaan Shah, allegedly took his own life by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in his company's township on Tuesday night. The incident occurred in Gadepan village, under the jurisdiction of the Simliya police station.

The 35-year-old officer, a resident of Vadodara district in Gujarat, was reportedly in a state of depression following his wife's suicide a year ago at her parents' home. Senior police official Dalpat Singh confirmed the details.

Employed with Chambal Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited for around 13 years, Shah lived in the company's township. No suicide note was discovered at the scene, adding to the uncertainty surrounding the reason for his death. The police have launched an investigation under the BNS Act's section 194 and have handed over the body to Shah's family after conducting a post-mortem examination.
