A tragic incident unfolded in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, where a man grappling with depression killed his three-year-old niece by slitting her throat, according to police reports on Monday.

The harrowing event took place around 10 pm on Sunday in the Jahangirabad locality. Acting swiftly upon receiving the alert, police officers reached the crime scene and apprehended the accused. "Police at Jahangirabad police station received information last night. A police team responded promptly and discovered that the minor's maternal uncle, Faraz, had fatally attacked her," stated Deputy Commissioner of Police Priyanka Shukla.

DCP Shukla added that the accused, a B.Sc graduate, was suffering from depression due to unemployment. The police have detained him, and he is currently under interrogation. Authorities have filed an FIR under Sections 103(1), 296, and 353(1) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sahita (BNS), 2023, and an investigation is underway. Family members allegedly taunted the man about his joblessness, prompting his violent outburst.
