Senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid on Thursday advocated for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into allegations made by US-based short-seller Hindenburg Research against SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch and the Adani Group. Khurshid asserted that such an investigation will set the record straight and gain public trust.
In response to the BJP's rejection of Congress' demand for a JPC probe, Khurshid remarked that a JPC inquiry could definitively establish whether the Hindenburg report was fictitious or not, providing an objective and balanced investigation.
Khurshid also commented on the alleged conflict of interest involving SEBI Chairperson Buch, pointing to admissions made by her and her husband regarding the conflict. He participated in a dharna led by Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, pushing for Buch's resignation and a JPC probe into the alleged Adani financial fraud.
