Kerala is emerging as a hotbed for the medical devices industry, thanks to its robust healthcare ecosystem. Patients from Arabian, African, and East European countries flock to Kerala for treatment, Industry Minister P Rajeeve announced on Thursday.

The minister emphasized that Kerala's global recognition in healthcare makes it an attractive investment destination. 'We have clean water and highly skilled human resources critical for industry growth,' he noted.

Rajeeve highlighted that facilities like Kerala Life Sciences Park in Thiruvananthapuram and the upcoming Kerala Rubber Park in Kottayam will bolster the sector. 'Space leasing for the rubber park will commence soon,' he added.

The Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) revealed that this interaction was part of a series of events leading up to the Global Investors Meet early next year. The state's New Industrial Policy identifies 22 priority areas to be showcased at the meet.

Principal Secretary A P M Mohammed Hanish stated that the government's focus is on increasing market value and the overall development of the industry. '29 private industrial parks have already been sanctioned,' he disclosed, with special emphasis on the medical devices sector.

Top officials including KSIDC Chairman Paul Antony and Agappe Diagnostics MD Thomas John participated in the event, aiming to attract investors both domestically and internationally. The series' finale will be held in Kochi next February.
