All India Muslim Personal Law Board President Khalid Saifullah Rahmani announced on Thursday that key political figures, including TDP's Chandrababu Naidu and JD(U)'s Nitish Kumar, have assured Muslim organizations that their parties will oppose the Waqf (Amendment) Bill.

Speaking at a joint press conference of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hindi, and other Muslim groups, Rahmani emphasized the plan to launch a nationwide campaign if the proposed legislation is not retracted. He noted that various secular parties, including BJP allies, are urged to support their stance to uphold justice and secularism.

Rahmani did not disclose specific details about meetings with Naidu and Kumar but reiterated the broad opposition to the bill. The Muslim bodies have not received an invitation from Parliament's joint committee on the bill but are prepared to present their case if called upon. The Waqf (Amendment) Bill has been labelled by Muslim organizations as unconstitutional and detrimental to the community, with further claims that it paves the way for government interference.
