RJD President Lalu Prasad on Thursday vowed to ensure that a caste census is conducted, emphasizing his determination to challenge the RSS-BJP on the matter.

Addressing a function commemorating OBC leader Babu Jagdeo Prasad's birth anniversary, Prasad's remarks were met with applause. The ailing leader, who spoke briefly, drew attention to the need for caste-based data to ensure equitable resource distribution.

His son, Tejashwi Yadav, underscored the RJD's historical role in implementing the Mandal Commission recommendations and facilitating caste-based surveys. He criticized Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for failing to uphold reservation laws, suggesting Kumar's alliance with BJP compromised his ability to support backward classes effectively.
