Dehradun Police have taken decisive action by forming an eight-member Special Investigation Team (SIT), headed by Superintendent of Police (City) Pramod Kumar, to delve into the alleged gang rape of a minor girl at the Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT). Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajay Singh emphasized the formation of the SIT in light of the case's sensitivity and to ensure thorough investigation.

The incident, involving the alleged gang-rape of a 16-year-old girl on a Uttarakhand Transport Corporation bus on August 12, led to a case being registered under Section 70 (2) of the IPC and Section 5 (g) / 6 of the POCSO Act. Prompt police action resulted in the arrest of five individuals, including the bus driver, conductor, two other bus drivers, and a cashier.

The minor, from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh, was misled by the accused while seeking bus information at Kashmiri Gate bus stand in Delhi. On arrival at ISBT Dehradun, the accused allegedly committed the crime. The SIT is actively collecting evidence, including CCTV footage from Dhabas, and plans to take the accused into custodial remand to bolster the case.
