Supreme Court Takes Up Case Amid Nationwide Doctors' Strike

A bench led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud will take up the issue at 10:30 am. The case, titled ''In Re: Alleged rape and murder incident of a trainee doctor in RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata, and related issue,'' comes as the Calcutta High Court has already transferred the probe to the CBI.

The doctors' bodies, including FAMCI and FORDA, have filed interim applications, emphasizing the need for enhanced safety measures for medical staff. They argue that uniform guidelines for healthcare worker protection are imperative, while violations of fundamental rights and recent violent incidents underlie their demands for better security.
