Amid heightened political tensions, West Bengal BJP President and Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar arrived at Dorina Crossing late at night, confronting Kolkata Police who had tried to prevent BJP workers from setting up a protest stage. According to Majumdar's office, stage construction has now resumed.

Previously, Kolkata Police defied a Calcutta High Court order by halting BJP cadres from establishing a protest site at Dorina Crossing. On Wednesday, Majumdar staged a sit-in at Baguiati in Kolkata during a 12-hour 'Bengal Bandh' called by the BJP.

Majumdar also penned a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, accusing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of promoting violence. He claimed Banerjee's calls to action were a blatant endorsement of revenge politics, demanding immediate scrutiny of her statements made earlier today to the TMC Student Wing in Kolkata.

Majumdar further accused Banerjee of explicitly inciting the public to gather and retaliate, marking this as an endorsement of revenge politics from the highest office in the state.

The BJP's call for a '12-hour Bengal Bandh' followed police actions involving lathi charges, water cannons, and tear gas against 'Nabanna Abhiyan' rally protestors. The rally, which began at College Square, witnessed escalated security measures around the West Bengal State Secretariat as protesters congregated in the Santragachi area of Howrah.

On August 27, Kolkata witnessed chaotic scenes as security forces used tear gas, water cannons, and lathi charges to disperse protestors on Howrah Bridge, heading towards the State Secretariat Nabanna. These protests erupted over the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape-murder case, a tragic event that has triggered nationwide outrage and multiple rallies.
