The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has maintained its interrogation of Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of R G Kar Medical College and Hospital, as part of its investigation into the alleged rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor at the institution, an official disclosed. Ghosh was summoned for questioning for the 13th consecutive day on Thursday.

Sources report that Ghosh has already been interrogated for over 130 hours. The CBI took over the investigation from Kolkata Police following a directive from the Calcutta High Court. A civic volunteer, Sanjoy Roy, was earlier arrested by Kolkata Police in connection with the case. Both Ghosh and Roy have undergone polygraph tests during the investigation.

In a parallel probe, the CBI has named Ghosh in an FIR related to alleged financial irregularities during his tenure. The Enforcement Directorate has also launched a money laundering case to investigate financial misdeeds at the hospital. Public protests over the doctor's death continue to erupt across the state and beyond.
