The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has officially charged two Naxals for their involvement in the abduction and murder of a civilian in Bihar, an official statement released on Saturday confirmed.
Identified as Anil Yadav and Pramod Mishra, both are high-ranking members of the banned CPI (Maoist) terrorist organization. The NIA asserts that both individuals are notorious criminals with various cases across police stations in Bihar and Jharkhand. With this latest filing, the number of accused in this particular case has risen to eleven.
Yadav and Mishra were apprehended in February this year after the NIA took over the investigation in June 2022. The abduction and murder relate to Naresh Singh Bhokta, who was suspected to be a police informer. Mishra allegedly orchestrated the killing, directing other Naxal cadres to eliminate Bhokta. Further investigations revealed a meeting convened by Mishra to target multiple special police officers. Bhokta was murdered on November 2, 2018, by CPI (Maoist) cadres.
