Ohio Police Officer Indicted for Murder in Shooting of Pregnant Black Mother

An Ohio police officer was indicted on Tuesday for murder in the shooting of Ta'Kiya Young, a 21-year-old pregnant Black mother. Young was killed by police in a grocery store parking lot last August.

The Franklin County grand jury indicted Blendon Township police officer Connor Grub on charges of murder, involuntary manslaughter, and felonious assault.

Young, suspected of shoplifting, was shot when the officer fired a single bullet through her windshield after she refused to leave her car, which then began rolling towards him. Her unborn daughter, due that November, also died.

Court records do not list an attorney for Grub. Blendon Township police have not provided a comment.
