India and the European Union (EU) are set to host a significant regional conference on August 21-22 in New Delhi to tackle the growing threat of online radicalisation. The two-day EU-India Track 1.5 Conference aims to bring together experts, policymakers, academics, and law enforcement officials from South Asia and Europe to discuss and devise ways to counter the exploitation of online spaces by extremist and terrorist actors.

The EU's Delegation to India announced in a press release that the conference seeks to enhance counter-terrorism dialogues and collaboration, aligning with the EU's Indo-Pacific Strategy. The event, organized in partnership with the Global Counter-Terrorism Council (GCTC) and India's Ministry of External Affairs, will explore strategies to address the complex challenges posed by the intersection of technology and terrorism.

European Union Ambassador to India, Herve Delphin, emphasized the importance of sharing knowledge and expertise among international partners to counter online radicalisation. He highlighted the EU's active role in regulating social media and internet providers while maintaining a strong focus on human rights. India's Joint Secretary (Counter Terrorism) at the Ministry of External Affairs, KD Dewal, reiterated India's zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and stressed the need for political will to combat terrorism without compromise.
