Mastercard and the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) have unveiled a nationwide campaign, 'Surakshit Vyapari, Safal Vyapar,' aimed at enhancing cybersecurity awareness among India's small traders and merchants. The initiative will feature special workshops and training sessions during Cybersecurity Awareness Month in October 2024.

The rapid digitization in India has led to a significant increase in cyber fraud, with the Reserve Bank of India reporting a 300% surge in cyber fraud cases related to payments in FY23. To combat this, Mastercard and CAIT's campaign will educate traders on preventing and responding to cyberattacks as they navigate their digital journeys.

'In today's digital age, ensuring the cybersecurity of our traders is of paramount importance,' said Praveen Khandelwal, Member of Parliament and National Secretary General of CAIT. Gautam Aggarwal, Division President of South Asia at Mastercard, added that the initiative aligns with the Prime Minister's vision for a 'Cyber Safe' India and aims to bolster consumer trust in digital payments.
