Karnataka Medical Education Department Hikes Stipend for Resident Doctors by 25%

The Karnataka Medical Education Department has increased the stipend for senior resident doctors and postgraduate medical students by 25 per cent. This decision comes in the wake of a strike by the resident doctors that had lasted for approximately two weeks, affecting mainly emergency services.
Medical Education Minister Dr Sharan Prakash Patil played a crucial role in resolving the issue. He intervened and held discussions with departmental officials, leading to the decision to hike the stipend. The strike was officially called off following this announcement.
The revised stipend will be effective from August 1. This move aims to address the grievances of medical professionals and ensure smooth functioning in medical services across the state.
