The Indian Golf Union (IGU) has suspended senior governing council member Sundeep Verma pending an inquiry into allegations of serious misconduct during his participation in the Paris Olympics.
According to the IGU's president, Brijender Singh, Verma's suspension, effective immediately from August 30, 2024, is due to the alleged seriousness of the misconduct, with an inquiry expected to conclude within 10 days.
Sources claim Verma allegedly used false accreditation to join the Indian Olympic team at the opening ceremony, a charge Verma denies, stating he had all necessary permissions. Verma further alleged his suspension was an attempt to prevent him from exposing corruption within the IGU.
