West Bengal BJP president Sukanta Majumdar has called for a CBI investigation into the brutal sexual assault and murder of a woman doctor at a state-run hospital in Kolkata, through a letter addressed to Union Health Minister J P Nadda on Sunday.
The body of the postgraduate trainee (PGT) doctor was discovered in a seminar hall of RG Kar Government Hospital on Friday. Preliminary autopsy reports indicated sexual abuse before her murder.
Majumdar, who is also the Union Minister of State for Education, emphasized the gravity of the crime and the need for swift justice, urging for a CBI probe to ensure an unbiased investigation. He also called for enhanced security measures at government-run medical institutions and psychological support for the shaken medical community.
