A railway staff member has been detained by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) for illegally possessing railway detonators and placing them on the railway track without a valid emergency, officials revealed on Tuesday.

Dr. Swapnil D. Nila, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Central Railway, told ANI that the detonators, typically used in regular railway operations, were discovered on a track near Sagphata station, situated between Khandwa and Bhusaval. No damage was inflicted on the track. Railway employee Shabeer has been apprehended by the RPF and is under investigation. He faces charges under the Railways Property (Unlawful Possession) Act and has been remanded to judicial custody for three days following a court presentation. The RPF's probe into the incident continues.

Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Minister Vishvas Kailash Sarang confirmed that an inquiry is underway and deemed it inappropriate to comment before the report's finalization. Railway Board Chairman and CEO Satish Kumar assured that all railway staff and security agencies remain vigilant. The investigation, involving the NIA, ATS, and civil police, will determine the next steps. Premature comments have been avoided until the investigation's conclusion.
