Eight people drowned in separate incidents across Madhya Pradesh's Vidisha, Sehore, and Khandwa districts, officials reported on Monday.
In Vidisha, five individuals lost their lives in the Betwa River at various ghats. A doctor drowned during a picnic in Sehore's Digambar waterfall, while two teenage girls perished in Khandwa's Agni River.
The State Disaster Emergency Response Force (SDERF) conducted rigorous search operations and retrieved several bodies by Monday morning. The victims include Ashwin Krishnan Iyer, a doctor, and Harendra Chouhan of the Special Armed Force.
