Thirty days have elapsed since the brutal rape and murder of a woman medic at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, yet investigators remain without substantial leads. The body of the trainee doctor was discovered in the seminar room on August 9, leading to a high-profile investigation now overseen by the CBI.

Transfer of the case from the Kolkata Police, as directed by the Calcutta High Court, came amidst serious allegations of evidence tampering. Notably, the former principal, Dr. Sandip Ghosh, ordered the demolition of a restroom and toilet near the crime scene, complicating the investigation further.

The CBI's interrogation of multiple witnesses, including Dr. Ghosh and detained civic volunteer Sanjay Roy, has not yielded conclusive results. The probe faces additional hurdles from a related investigation into financial wrongdoings by Dr. Ghosh, who is accused of significant embezzlement and orchestrating illegal appointments.
