Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje has called for the resignation of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah after Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot granted permission for his prosecution in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam. Karandlaje claimed Siddaramaiah's wife illegally purchased 24 plots and demanded the chief minister step down to face the allegations.

Karandlaje further accused Siddaramaiah of being involved in another corruption case involving the Valmiki Development Corporation, alleging the misappropriation of Rs89 crore, purportedly used for Congress's campaign in the Telangana election. An order from the Karnataka Governor's Secretariat confirmed the Governor's decision to sanction Siddaramaiah's prosecution under relevant laws.

In response, Siddaramaiah dismissed the Governor's permission for prosecution as unconstitutional, accusing him of acting in favor of the Central Government and BJP. Earlier, social activist Snehamayi Krishna filed a complaint against Siddaramaiah and others for alleged document forgery to claim compensation from the MUDA. Siddaramaiah defended his actions, asserting compliance with legal procedures.
